Happy International Women's Day!
We have already familiar with what this day means and how important it is for women. International Women's Day is a global holiday celebrated annually on March 8 to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women (United Nations, 2021). It also has a special place in the women's rights movement for bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, violence and abuse.
Women have been fighting for their rights for years. Sadly, every society has not fully give women their rights. Inequalities differs from education to how women dress themselves. That is why, all around the world women are fighting for their and other women's rights. In this poster that me and my friend, Nur Ebrar C., have made we tried to attract attention to the fact that wanting equal rights does not mean wanting special rights.
In today's society, there are so many people who not fully understand the concept of feminism or people who are caught in the wrong ideas of others. These people, sadly, think that women want special and unnecessary rights. Meanwhile, women just want to get their education, not being assaulted in the streets, working opportunities, abortion and voting rights, etc. Women do not want any more or less rights than any man. And feminism movement does not exist just to hate man. It exists to be a voice for the difficulties of women in today's society. That is why, women seek their rights for themselves and for their fellows around the world.
Today the society needs to understand that empowering the women (which is approximately half of the population) means empowering humanity.
