What is a pictogram and how to use it in the classroom?

    A pictogram, pictogramme, pictograph, or picto is a graphic symbol that conveys its meaning through its pictorial resemblance to a physical object (Wikipedia). We see these symbols almost everywhere in our lives such as traffic signs. They make our lives easier with visual expression. That is why it is really useful to use pictograms in our classrooms. 

The presence of visuals is very important when learning any language. Because this allows the learner to reconcile the word and the object. Therefore, explaining words through pictograms makes learning easier.

Creating pictograms is both fun and tiring activity. Thinking about creative ideas that reveal words is harder than it seems, but it's fun to prepare once the idea is decided. However, you can also find pictograms on the internet. There are so many pictograms that you can use in your lessons.
